#BlogTour #Review ~ Curves, Kisses and Chocolate Ice Cream by @suewatsonwriter @bookouture

Dani’s on a mission to get her life back on track by the end of the Summer. Running, rowing, aerobics and more, but perhaps all she needs are sweet treats and a second chance?

Twenty years ago, Dani fled Appledore with a broken-heart and a suitcase full of shattered dreams. Only now is she brave enough to put her past behind her and return for a summer selling homemade ice-cream and getting fit by doing sit-ups by the sea.

But the new-look cafe is filled with old memories of Jude, her teenage sweetheart-turned-sour. She thinks of him every time she swirls warm sauce onto a “chocolate-bockaglory” and even with the help of Chris, her gorgeous personal trainer, the urge to break her diet is everywhere she turns.

When Jude makes an appearance at the cafe on the eve of Dani’s birthday party, history threatens to repeat itself. Is Dani strong enough to say no? And is the love she’s been longing for much closer than she thinks?

A truly delicious, laugh out loud beach read that’s guaranteed to melt your heart. Perfect for fans of Lucy Diamond, Jenny Colgan and Debbie Johnson.

About the Author

Sue Watson was a journalist then a TV Producer at the BBC until she realised that instead of working, she could stay at home, make stuff up and sell it!

So far Sue’s written ten books, and some have been translated into Italian and Portuguese (she’s big in Brazil!) Originally from Manchester, she now lives with her husband and teenage daughter in Worcestershire where her days are spent baking (and eating) lots of cake, while making big life decisions about whether to have Caramel Chew Chew or Salted Caramel ice cream while watching ‘The Biggest Loser USA,’ on TV.

My Review

A little while ago I read Ella’s Ice-Cream Summer (Review Here ) so I was on tenterhooks waiting for Curves, Kisses and Chocolate Ice Cream. The title alone conjures up such a delectable story, add in the cover image and it’s full steam ahead for a summer delight.

If I thought the last book was funny this one probably quadruples the pleasure. I adore the descriptions of the food (always have snacks available when reading Sue!) the characters are hilarious and it’s such a heart-warming story.

Dani is a bit on the large side so working in an ice-cream shop is far from ideal. Personal issues have caused a binge eating habit and her attempts to diet should come with a health warning! As you can imagine the gym or any form of activity is not her favourite pastime until a rather tasty (in the non-food sense) personal trainer takes her eye and she vows to get fit and lose weight before hitting forty.

Of course life is never that simple and previous traumas have resulted in some of Dani’s eating habits, broken heart = comfort eating, bullying, body shaming etc .. all things that a lot of readers can probably relate too. Sue writes about all of this with sensitivity and humour, in no way is it ridiculed or belittled it just makes us all believe we can be gorgeous as we are.

There are characters from the previous book so it’s nice to catch up with them and return to the idyllic setting of Appledore but it can easily be read as a stand alone.

Overall this is just perfect for a summer’s day, a book to make you laugh and cry so be prepared for tears of all kinds! It also serves up some positive mental attitude .. you are who you want to be … oh and did I mention the food .. just read it you won’t be disappointed.

Thanks to Sue, Bookouture and Netgalley for my copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily
