My Review

OH MY GOODNESS … I think that is the politest way I can describe my feelings about this book! Carol has transformed herself from a writer of humour to an author who is displaying the darkest of #DarkSides and wow I enjoyed every excruciating minute of it.

A story that grabs you by the throat from the first page and doesn’t give you a second to think let alone breathe until you come up gasping at the end.

We start with Alice’s introduction, an 8 year old with a toy rabbit .. *warning there may be trigger points* for some readers.

Robyn Carter is currently working as a PI while taking a ‘bereavement’ break from her role as a DI in the force. Her missing husband case soon develops into a murder inquiry and the puzzle deepens and has sinister connections to further body discoveries. So in her first week back at work she gets involved.

There are several characters whose lives intertwine and seem to connect with Abigail, she is married to Jackson and they have a beautiful baby Izzy. Abigail should be happy she has it all but someone is determined to cause friction, mess with her head and leave the reader wondering what is going on.

The plot is a clever one and had me guessing until the end and only then can you see the intricate web that has been woven. A very intelligent thriller with enough substance to make you look over your shoulder at the slightest noise .. I thought it was a super book but please Carol for future reference I HATE eyes!! I eagerly await the next in the series.

Many thanks to Netgalley, the publishers etc .. I read and reviewed voluntarily

  1. “A story that grabs you by the throat.” Wow! This has to be a must-read. Thanks for the heads-up, Ali. BTW: It must be difficult to review a murder mystery because you have to be careful not to reveal too much; and it must be even more difficult when you love a book and eagerly want to broadcast the story to the world!

Good luck to Carol E. Wyer and LITTLE GIRL LOST. I love the book cover. It’s a work of art.

    • You have absolutely knocked it on the head, I so wanted to share the details but I was good (I hope) .. well worth a read. It’s shaping up to be a great year already 😉 xx

  2. Wow! Gosh! Thank you for such a terrific review. I have been left open-mouthed and am now bouncing up and down on my stability ball (I have to use it instead of a chair, but it’s great for these exciting moments.)
I am genuinely over the moon that you enjoyed Little Girl Lost and for being part of the tour.
Here’s something noone else knows – I absolutely hate eyes too. (A serious problem with them) I can’t even put on mascara without wincing and am terrified of opticians as my eyes are failing badly. 😉

    • So my question has to be WHY take the eye route lol .. I won’t give anything away but it still creeps me out xx
