#BookReview ~ Three Weeks Dead by Rebecca Bradley #PublicationDay

Wishing Rebecca the happiest of Publication Days! 🙂 xx51iwhrezlul

How far would you go if someone took your wife?

Especially, if you buried her a week ago.

When Jason Wells is faced with this scenario, he is confronted with the prospect of committing a crime that will have far-reaching consequences.

Can young DC Sally Poynter get through to him before he crosses that line, or does a desperate husband prove to be the case she won’t ever forget?

A prequel novella, set before  Shallow Waters , the first in the DI Hannah Robbins series.

About the Author

Rebecca Bradley is a retired police detective and lives in Nottinghamshire with her family and her two cockapoo’s Alfie and Lola, who keep her company while she writes. Rebecca needs to drink copious amounts of tea to function throughout the day and if she could, she would survive on a diet of tea and cake while committing murder on a regular basis, in her writing of course.

My Review

I received an ARC from the author, the cover is astounding, real chills down the spine stuff,  the premise intriguing and being a novella I readily agreed to do a review in time for publication day.

I haven’t read the other books by Rebecca but this one is where it all begins. Poor Jason, he has recently lost his wife in a traffic accident and then he hears news anyone would disbelieve, we have your wife! Who would be so wicked to kidnap a body and why!?

This goes to show just how far human nature will take us if faced with a desperate situation. I felt really sorry for Jason, loved the sound of Lewis though, his wife Lisa’s faithful hound.

We follow DC Sally Poynter as she embarks on her career in the murder squad. Not only does she have to deal with the distraught husband, try to track down the kidnappers but also cope with a rather over-bearing and frankly objectionable team member who wishes she wasn’t there. This is all finely balanced with her relationship with her own husband.

I really enjoyed this, the story was well paced, held sufficient tension but also drew on the emotions of the bereaved.

A fabulous prequel and I have already loaded the next in the series onto my Kindle! Thanks again to Rebecca for my copy. stars-5-0._V192197110_

  1. This blurb is perfect. I love that it grabs your attention so quickly! The novella sounds packed and well-written. I love it when the investigation is not all that is going on. Adding lots of other factors, when well-done, brings the story to another level.
