Cakes Through The Letterbox! @bakerdays #bakerdaysmoment

I’m going to make you all hungry today! I have been aware of letterbox cakes for quite a while but have always thought they would be a novelty and have never got around to ordering one.

But I was reading a  post over on lovely Jenny in Neverland’s  blog where she was reviewing one from Bakerdays and I entered the competition to win .. luckily for me I was then given the choice of which cake I would like!

Well, there are literally dozens of designs to suit any occasion, considering we had recently moved house I opted for a New Home design as a treat. These can be personalised with an easy to use graphic online so you can see exactly how it will be displayed.

There is also a choice of flavourings .. which cake to choose!? Chocolate Chip, Traditional Sponge, Lemon Drizzle, Fruit they even do dairy and gluten free so there really is something for everyone. I opted for good old traditional 🙂

I was impressed with the ease of ordering, choose the flavour, design, when you would like it delivered, who to etc, you can pay via credit, debit card or Paypal.

I was a little dubious about whether the parcel actually would  fit through the letterbox (mail slot) and if so whether the contents would be squidged .. I’m pleased to say my worries were unfounded on both counts.

Well packaged in a sturdy cardboard box, with air pockets inside to prevent the cake sliding around. The cake itself was in a sealed covering to keep it fresh.

The cake comes complete with a card, balloons, candles and a whistle blower to enhance celebrations.

So how did the cake taste? Well, the consensus of opinion in this house was delicious, a real cakey taste, great texture and fondant icing which was very sweet. It comes on it’s own board so is entirely ready to cut and serve. It measures 5″ diameter and serves 3-4.

Would I buy one for myself or  send as a gift? Yes, I would, although at £14.99 it’s likely only to be a special occasion choice.
