Firstly thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture & Holly Martin for the opportunity to give an honest review in exchange for an ARC.
I was so looking forward to reading this from the moment I spotted the delightful book cover .. I fell in love with the Lilac Cottage, what a dream house!

Penny Meadows lives alone in the perfect cottage in Devon until she takes in her new tenants Henry & his 16-year-old daughter Daisy. Henry is a single father & extremely over protective of Daisy, they have moved to the area so he can begin a new job, be closer to his sister & to give Daisy the chance of a new school.

The story unfolds as Penny, Henry & Daisy all form their relationships .. it is beautifully written with warmth, charm, cuteness, sadness & humour. I found Penny’s profession of ice sculpturing rather intriguing & it blended suitably with the ‘wintry’ feel, the connection between her & Daisy over a love of creativity was particularly touching.

The village is full of well-meaning/nosy characters & we soon get drawn into their lives. The setting is idyllic, the snow & festive feel enchanting .. a wonderful Christmas book which will leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling. Always wish upon a ‘shooting star’ .
