#HappyPublicationDay #Review ~ The Sunshine Cat’s Choice by @NicTatano #BookBoost

A.J. Scaramucci’s life has always been shaken, not stirred.

Pretty typical for a spunky gal from Staten Island who runs her family’s delicatessen and is not shy about saying what she thinks. When a new business across the street brings two men into her life, she’s presented with a choice.

But when a major red flag is revealed, the decision seems totally out of her hands.

And for a woman who always takes what she wants, it’s a new experience.

Turns out her equally spunky cat Gypsy has more input than she does.

The pet she calls “my sunshine” will have to work a little feline magic for a happy ending.

About the Author

I’ve always been a writer of some sort, having spent my career working as a reporter, anchor or producer in television news. Fiction is a lot more fun, since you don’t have to deal with those pesky things known as facts. I grew up in the New York City metropolitan area and now live on the Gulf Coast where I will never shovel snow again. I’m happily married to a math teacher.

My Review

I have been eagerly awaiting The Sunshine Cat’s Choice after reading the others in the series. So I was over the moon when Nic sent me one of the first copies to enjoy. While you will get the most pleasure and back story if you read the books in order it isn’t absolutely necessary because this one works well as a stand-alone.

By now most of my followers know I love New York, (this is set in Staten Island) I am a crazy cat lady and a huge fan of Nic’s previous books (not only the cat series) so this story has all the magic ingredients and I was delighted to find mention of a favourite movie and ‘scones and jam’!!

This time the story focuses on A.J a feisty Sicilian lady who works in a deli she co-owns with her siblings, she has a reputation for liking the guys! Something has to alter so she makes a decision aided by her friends to slow things down relationship wise. They give some basic advice which is quite amusing but true, much to A.J’s chagrin.

Two very different men appear in her life, how will she choose between them, what are the warning signs and just what does her cat Gypsy have to do with it all? I quite liked the inclusion of some English characters it highlights the subtle differences between US/UK.

I really like A.J she has a strong personality and certainly isn’t afraid of saying what she thinks. There was a definite preference in the men as far as I was concerned but you will have to wait until the end to see if either of them pass the ‘cat’ test.

It was lovely to catch up with A.J’s friends, Madison, Rory and Tish, and get my fix of the fabulous ‘Noo Yawk’ accent. It didn’t take me long to feel at home. Gypsy is the outstanding character, her antics are superbly described and I agree with A.J when she  states Gypsy is her ‘sunshine’ every day. Total loyalty.

The Sunshine Cat’s Choice is the perfect pick me up book, full of sarcasm, humour, friendship, food and slow-burn sweet relationships. Add in dodgy dealings for some excitement and this is a delightful story.

There is a very touching tribute at the end by Nic to the real-life Gypsy. I have followed her journey via Nic’s social media and I know what a huge part she played in his life <3

I have read and reviewed this voluntarily and happily give it 5 sparkly stars. I just hope I don’t have to wait too long until it’s Rory’s turn in the spotlight.

Beautiful Gypsy RIP

And just for info I live in an area of the UK that takes pride in it’s ‘cream’ teas, comprising of scone, jam and a cup of tea. It’s a great tourist attraction. I admit to being a fairly regular consumer .. this was delicious!
