Accidentally On Purpose: Heartbreaker Bay Book 3

Elle Wheaton’s priorities: friends, career, and kick-ass shoes. Then there’s the muscular wall of stubbornness that’s security expert Archer Hunt – who comes before everything else. No point in telling Mr. “Feels-Free Zone” that, though. Elle will just see other men until she gets over Archer…which should only take a lifetime…

Archer’s wanted the best for Elle ever since he sacrificed his law-enforcement career to save her. Their chemistry could start the next San Francisco earthquake and he craves her 24/7, but Archer doesn’t want to be responsible for the damage. The alternative? Watch her go out with guys who aren’t him… As far as Archer’s concerned, nobody is good enough for Elle. But when he sets out to prove it by sabotaging her dates, she gets mad – and things get hot as hell. Now Archer has a new mission: prove to Elle that her perfect man has been here all along…

My Review

It would be very simple to sum this review up in two words – Jill Shalvis because in all honesty that’s all you need to know! It’s always a delight to have an author that can be your ‘go-to’ that will undoubtedly provide exactly what you need when reading a book, no need to think or make difficult decisions on which book you should read next. The solution is straightforward because it is bound to tick all the right boxes.

I don’t think there is any doubt I am a huge fan .. yep, even somebody my age can fan-girl! So when I knew the next in this series was due out I couldn’t get my hands on a copy fast enough. Thanks to Edelweiss and the publishers I was allowed an ARC.

The Heartbreak Bay series is set in San Francisco, with some great insider knowledge/landmarks which I have been lucky enough to visit. Each book features a different member of the friend circle and this time we get Elle’s story. I have been looking forward to exploring her circumstances further and watch with caution as her and Archer create hell.

There is history between these two and Elle feels indebted to him, that doesn’t stop the sparks flying, usually for the wrong reasons .. her main agenda appears to be committing murder (his) .. fine line between love and hate.

Elle is a sassy, feisty ball of fire who is ALWAYS right but could this just be a cover for her deep emotional issues and vulnerability? Archer (love that name it suits him) is a walking sex bomb, full of charisma, bad-ass, not to be messed with, will take no crap from anyone kind of dude but is as weak as a kitten around the girl who winds him up like no other.

This chemistry between these two almost melts the pages but it is nicely interspersed with the rest of the gang who all have a part to play.

While it is nice to see so many familiar faces I don’t think it is necessary to read the previous books first because there is enough back story included in this one but obviously for enjoyment sake it might pay to do so.

Yet another winner from Jill, full of passion, friendship, humour, some intricate family issues and above all some ‘Tude!!
