About the Author

Cassandra Piat is a part-time English teacher and a full-time disorganised mother and housewife. She spends her life trying to remember not to forget the 101 things on her things-to-do list, but seems to fail spectacularly most of the time! Whenever she has some free time she’s either with her head in a book, watching a romantic comedy or writing her own romantic comedies.

She lives in Mauritius with her husband, who prefers TV to books, and her three children who keep her on her toes and don’t leave her much free time to sit down and write.

She published her first book What’s it Gonna be? in December 2014 and Stuck with Me is her second novel. She loves writing stories that take place on her beautiful tropical island of Mauritius and sharing the island life with her readers. She is currently writing her third book in her head and hopes that she will soon have time to get it down on paper.

My Review

This book struck me as wonderful summery light-hearted escapism when I first peeked at the cover. Set in Mauritius for some of it, what’s not to love! The descriptions of the place certainly made me long for sun, sea, sand etc

The premise of the story is can people be truly happy all the time and if so how and why .. is it possible to reduce a happy person to misery?

Molly is a vibrant photographer, bubbly, smiley full of life .. she ‘wins’ a photographic contest and her prize is a week in Mauritius.

Adam is a hunk who resembles a celebrity .. he currently is a sports journalist but due to circumstance has been given the assignment to investigate the happiness theory. His job/promotion could depend on this.

Lo and behold the object of his research happens to be Molly! From here on in we have the joy of following their meeting and subsequent time spent together.

I giggled uncontrollably through some of the scenes, these two are such likeable characters and the scrapes they find themselves in range from infuriating, embarrassing, humorous and tears.

I won’t go into detail because the whole enjoyment of the book revolves around their getting to know each other. The author has done a fabulous job of getting inside their heads and letting the reader feel the emotions.

While it is a brilliant rom-com it also has a deeper more serious side that deals with anxiety and the resulting actions from this are dealt with sensitively and give a full explanation. I liked this added touch, that raised an already easy to read book into a memorable book for me.

If you want something slightly different from the run of the mill Chick-Lits give this a go. I’m looking forward to the next book.

Thanks to the author and Jenny at Neverland .. I read and reviewed this voluntarily.
